Privacy Policy
Singles Life ("we," "us") runs reminder tools to help people living on their own stay on top of the small, easy-to-forget things — starting with bill due dates. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what we do (and don't do) with it.
What we collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used to log you in and to send reminders and account emails.
- Password — stored as a one-way hash. We never store or have access to your actual password.
- Phone number (optional) — only if you choose to enable text reminders. We verify it with a one-time code before we ever text you anything else.
- The reminders you set up — for Bills, that's the bill name, category, due date, and optionally an amount. This is what the feature is for; we don't collect any more of your financial information than that (we never see or store bank account numbers, card numbers, or the like).
How we use it
Strictly to run the service: sending you the reminders you've asked for, verifying your phone number if you add one, and emailing you about your account (password resets, for example). That's it.
We do not sell or share your email address or phone number with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose. This is a firm commitment, not a default we might change quietly later — carriers require it for the text-messaging system we use, and it's how we'd want a service handling our own information to behave.
Text messages (SMS)
Text reminders are optional. They're never required to create an account or use Singles Life — you get the same reminders by email either way. If you choose to turn text reminders on, here's exactly how that works:
- What we send: a one-time code to verify your number, and — only for the specific bills you mark "Text me" — a reminder when one of those bills is coming due.
- How often: message frequency depends on how many bills you've set up to text you about; most people receive a handful of messages a month.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply from your carrier.
- Opting out: reply STOP to any text to stop all texts immediately, or reply HELP for help. You can also turn text reminders off anytime from your account settings.
We send these messages through Twilio, a third-party messaging provider, solely to deliver the text itself. Twilio processes the message on our behalf under its own security and compliance obligations.
No mobile information — including your phone number, opt-in status, or consent — is shared with any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. This applies to all the categories of information described on this page: text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties, period.
Advertising
This site does not currently run any advertising or remarketing campaigns. If that changes, this section will be updated first to describe exactly what's running and how to opt out — the same way we handle it on our sister site, Singles Kitchen.
Cookies and sessions
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. It doesn't track you across other websites and isn't used for advertising.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and data deleted, email us (below) and we'll take care of it.
As we add features
Singles Life is a small, growing set of tools under one account — Bill Reminders today, with Home Care Reminders and Check-Ins planned. Check-Ins in particular will involve a new kind of data (an emergency contact you choose to share with us). When that launches, this policy will be updated first to explain exactly what's collected and how it's used, before the feature goes live.
